Wyre Theatres pledge to reward volunteers

Wyre Council’s two theatres have joined forces with national charity Spice Innovations to offer rewards for volunteers for the time they commit to their community.
Pioneered by Spice Innovations alongside Lancashire County Council and Chorley Council, the Time Credits Programme is a ‘community currency’ scheme that operates across England and Wales. People earn Time Credits by giving their time up and for each hour they volunteer, they receive a Time Credit to use at local venues or national attractions such as the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral or Blackpool Tower.
Marine Hall in Fleetwood and Thornton Little Theatre have joined the scheme this week, allowing volunteers to redeem their credits against tickets for some of the best shows in town.
Becky Hedgcock Senior Project Manager for Lancashire says, “We have been really enthused by the interest of people from all areas of Lancashire in what Time Credits can offer, and are looking forward to working with Wyre Council.
“Time Credits are a fantastic tool for encouraging people who may be new to volunteering. They also provide a system for organisations to work together to exchange their skills and resources. The scheme has been developed to value everyone’s time, no matter who they are and the Time Credits open up new opportunities for people to try new things, learn, be healthier and have fun.”
