An evening of Genesis music returns to Thornton Little Theatre

Published: Thursday, 19 May 2016

Genesis fans are in for a great night at Thornton Little Theatre later this year as top tribute band Mama returns to the venue to perform all the greatest hits and some choice album tracks.

Describing themselves as an ‘all era’ tribute, Mama will take you on a journey from Genesis’ early Peter Gabriel years, through the Phil Collins’ era of the 70s and 80s - right up to their final studio album, ‘We Can’t Dance’.

Lead singer, John Wilkinson, delivers the Phil Collins vocal sound with power, passion and precision. On keyboards, the band benefits from the technical wizardry of John Comish. Stunning guitars are provided by Mark Comish, backed up with the rock solid technical playing of James Cooper on drums and Dave Jones on bass.

Formed in 2011 the band has already established itself as one of the top Genesis tribute bands in the UK. From their debut show at The Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead in March 2012 the band has captivated their audiences playing tribute to the music of Genesis to the highest of standards.

Talking about the band’s first show, Alan Hewitt author of The Waiting Room the longest established Genesis webzine comments, "The performance at the Pacific Road Arts Centre in Birkenhead rates as one of the most impressive debuts I have ever seen. Musically spot on the money. Vocally, uncannily like Genesis and visually, convincing enough for me to suspend my disbelief. At times it was as if Genesis themselves were on stage. Either that or they had been cloned - impressive stuff!”

Mama will perform songs from Genesis’ 40 year history including the well known Mama, Turn it on Again, Invisible Touch and No Son of Mine along with album tracks such as In the Cage, Los Endos and Ripples.

Talking about the event, lead singer John Wilkinson comments, "Well it is our third time at Thornton Little Theatre and I can honestly say it is one of the band's favourite venues to play. The audience is so supportive and warm and the venue lends itself to our show really well. We are all looking forward to it tremendously. The audience can expect a few new songs from us that they have not heard before as well.”

Mama are appearing at Thornton Little Theatre on Saturday 3rd September 2016. Tickets are £16.55 and are available to book at or for more information call Thornton Little Theatre’s box office on 01253 887693.
