Steve Hall

Marine Hall’s favourite Friday night Comedy Club is back on Friday 11 July with another hilarious line up to tickle your funny bones!

Headlining the night are Tiff Stevenson and Steve Hall. Tiff, a finalist on ITV1’s Show Me the Funny, is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer, known for her honest material and instantly likeable disposition. She has appeared on programmes such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC Two), The Office (BBC Two), Balls of Steel (Channel 4) and Only Joking (Sky), and you may have heard her dulcet tones across the airwaves in her regular roles on radio shows such as MacCaulay & Co (BBC Radio Scotland), Front Row (BBC Radio 4) and 7 Day Saturday & Sunday with Al Murray (BBC Radio 5 Live).

Her previous solo Edinburgh stand-up shows have consistently had packed audiences and rave reviews, and in 2012 she won the Mervyn Stutter’s Spirit of the Fringe Award. Come and join her test run material for her new Edinburgh solo show, where she ponders if optimism is possible in a world where the Kardashians and Everyday Vodka continue to exist.

As a solo live performer Steve Hall is known for his snappy, smart and occasionally nasty comedy! He has provided the support for Russell Howard on his sell-out national tours Adventures, Dingledodies and the 2009 arena tour Big Rooms and Belly Laughs.

Steve's recent work has included writing on Russell Howard's Good News as well as writing for BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show and taking his solo show Steve Hall’s Very Still Life to the 2011 Edinburgh Festival. A finalist in the BBC New Comedy Award and Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award, Steve Hall made his Fringe debut in 2003 in the sell-out Edinburgh show, Three Men And A Giant. Steve returned to Edinburgh in 2008 with his first solo stand up show solo show Vice Captain Loser.

As well as performing his own stand-up Hall also makes up one third of if.comedy Award nominated sketch show We Are Klang. In 2007 Steve performed as part of We Are Klang at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, where they were nominated for a Barry Award, before returning to Edinburgh for a four night sell out run. As part of We Are Klang, Steve wrote and starred in the groups own sitcom series for BBC Three.

Support act for the night is Jack Barry - probably the only stand up on the circuit with a degree in Chinese! After excitedly stumbling his way around the stand up and sketch circuits, performing at nights for CKP, Knock 2 Bag, the Invisible Dot and the BBC Comedy Tent in Edinburgh, Jack then went on to support James Acaster on the UK tours of Edinburgh Award-nominated shows Prompt and Lawnmower.

Jack has been a regular at the Edinburgh Festival since first appearing with critically acclaimed student sketch group the Leeds Tealights who were named Best Student Sketch Group 2010. In 2012 Jack made his stand-up debut at the festival in double-header Your New Mild Friends, and as part of short lived and stupidly named sketch group HMS Ship. He returned in 2013 as part of the prestigious Pleasance Comedy Reserve, as well as performing on the Free Fringe as one half of sketch duo Twins.

MC for the show is Suzy Bennett. Described by the BBC as vibrant, gorgeous and extremely funny, Suzy is a former winner of the prestigious Funny Women Award. A dynamo of a comic, with a uniquely warm and chatty stage presence means she is a brilliant MC as well an act in her own right.

After her appearance on Comedy Idol, Suzy was asked by Jimmy Carr to support him on his Gag Reflex tour. In August 2012 she performed at Edinburgh as part of the Comedy Reserve at the Pleasance Theatre, one of the most prestigious showcases for up and coming comics. In 2013 she took her much anticipated debut one hour show Dancing on Thin Ice to the same venue.

Suzy has had an exciting 2014 so far, taking Dancing on Thin Ice to the Leicester Square Theatre in February before supporting Russell Kane’s Smallness tour in March.

The show kicks off on Friday 11 July at 8pm.Tickets are just £12 each or £10 each when booking a table of ten or more. To book your tickets click here or call the box office on 01253 887693.
